AC/DC was silent for many years, only making live albums like Live at Donnington or their album Stiff Upper Lip. But, you could hear the classic licks from Angus Young across the country proving that the masters of simplicity, AC/DC, were long from gone. After getting back with Phil Rudd, the original drummer, they made the Double-Platinum, Billboard #1 album Black Ice, and to say the least… I was very taken back by the album.
AC/DC shows that no matter who challenges their title, they are and will always be the masters of simplicity. This album just goes to show that AC/DC may be older, but they are still rocking like they were back in the 1970’s. Their first single Rock ‘N Roll Train is a very simple song, but so catchy it took me 3 weeks to get it out of my head. The song opens up with a simple riff from Angus and then followed by the rest of the band. Brian Johnson, the lead singer, sounds as good as ever. His signature raspy voice is still no Bon Scott, but that’s the way he wants it to be. The way the band congeals after such a long time on the road and in the studio is evident and this bond makes such great music. This band defined a genre of rock and they still inspire so many bands to date. You can walk up to anyone and its almost certain that they have heard an AC/DC song before.
Their legendary status as one of Rocks greatest bands still holds true with this album. I was very impressed by this album with the almost decade wait for another classic. They are a true treasure to this genre of music and to see that they are still going strong and making music shows me that “Rock ‘N Roll, it will survive”.
