10 The Doobie Brothers

                Their music is still popular to this day and many thousands of people that grew up listening to classic rock worship this band, and for good reason. Songs like Rockin’ Down The Highway and China Grove paved the way for them to becoming classic rock legends.

9 Green Day

                Their albums Dookie and American Idiot defined 2 generations of teens who went against the grain. Dookie was the punk album of the 90’s that plunged the band into super stardom and American Idiot, which challenged the U.S. Government, made them famous to my generation.

8 Deep Purple

                This band created one of the most influential guitar riffs ever to be played and it holds a world record for the amount of people playing it at one time. Other than Smoke on the Water, Highway Star, Hush, and My Woman From Tokyo were monumental songs in the metal movement.

7 Red Hot Chili Peppers

                Considered an underground band for most of their career due to their funk rock mix, RHCP helped define what rock could be and that it has no limits. Songs like Californication, Dani California, and, Hump de Bump challenged these theories.

6 Foo Fighters

                With the death of Kurt Cobain, this band was formed and went on to produce many platinum and some double platinum albums. Songs like Everlong, Big Me, The Pretender, and My Hero propelled this band to the top 10 charts more than once.

5 Stevie Ray Vaughn

                This man is in my opinion the best blues rock guitarist to ever grace this planet. His death in the 90’s shocked the world since he had been battling a drug addiction. Songs like Crossfire, Pride and Joy, and Tightrope are icons of blues music.

4 Nirvana

                The poster child of the grunge movement. Their music even after the death of Kurt Cobain is still played through the ear buds of teenagers. Songs that will play for years and years to come are Smells Like Teen Spirit, In Bloom, and Lithium.

3 Ozzy Osbourne

                 The godfather of modern heavy metal is still rocking to this day.  Many artists like Robert Trujillo and Zakk Wylde and many others have dreamed of playing alongside Ozzy, a few have, most haven’t. songs like Paranoid and Iron Man from Sabbath and Crazy Train with The Best I Never Had are some of his most influential songs to rock artists today.

2 The Beatles

                One of, if not the biggest band to come out of the British invasion. Their music has stood the test of time so far even after having 2 band members die. Ringo Star and Paul McCartney are still rocking to this day while sadly John Lennon was murdered 31 years ago, and George died from cancer. Songs like Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, I Am The Walrus, and Come Together are just a few of the many great Beatles classics.

1 Queen

                This has to be one of the most versatile bands to have ever played on a stage. Their song Bohemian Rhapsody is an excellent example because it goes from a bluesy song into a hard rock song. Also compare songs like We Will Rock You to Somebody to Love and you can see the difference, but also see their musical genius. It was one of the world’s most tragic days when Freddie Mercury died of AIDS in the 90’s.
